I think I'm gonna put in an appeal for more followers in my column. Eight feels a bit lonely. Do you have to have your own blog to become a follower, or do you just register with Blogger?
I think you just need a gmail account or a blogger account to be a follower.
I hope that you are successful in your appeal for more followers, if that is what you feel will make you happy. But I confess I'll miss our intimate little circle. Many's the time I have looked at my blog feeds and thought, "Aaah, nothing from Mark Dapin again today. Only me and seven other people really know him like this".
What I'm trying to do now is blog every time I think about it, which still isn't very often and usually only when I've got something much more important to do. Obviously, I've no idea what an RSS feed might be. I don't know what a "follower" is either, except as it has been explained to me on this blog. I just think I should have more of them. But, PTR, our bond will be eternal. Whoever the fuck you are.
Well, I'm 51 and don't know nothing about blogging so I thought I'd try and learn on your blog. I gather most blogs are vacuous and I trust you from your great columns that yours will not be.
Took me two goes and about 1 hr 15 mins to work it out. Thank god for lunch hours.
In answer to your questions - I clicked on your "follow" button and it set me up with an account and presto this comments box appears at the bottom of each of your blog entries. So now you have another follower. Lead on MacDuff. if I'm inspired I might start my own.
Gazza, Thanks for that. Sadly, my blog is vacuous, since the only thing I can ever think to blog about is the fact that I haven't got many followers. I like the way you as a follower have accepted me as a leader, though, so I will try to be a bit more interesting in future.
Hi Mark, I don't know if my comment registered in your later blog write up, (umm, from April the something, 2011 (I can't go check date or else , oh... skip it, boring) I will happily follow your blog because I really enjoy your GW column. I'll post a link to this blog on my fb page to spread the word. I'm hopeless at siging up for blogs but even I knew how to do this: I just used the "google account " option which means it goes to my gmail account and I sign in there and, voila, my comments appear on your blog. Most people know how to sign into blogs ; it's more likely they don't know your blog exists among the gazillions out there. I didn't until today (because of what you wrote in your GW column). I love the wiki plan, I laugh everytime I think of it. Best, Abi

I follow your blog via the RSS feed, I don't know if it counts me as a follower or not from that.
ReplyDeleteYou really don't get many bloggers talking about how many followers they have - it isn't something I have come across a lot in the past.
People definitely talk about how many people follow them on twitter though.....
